OWALLOIL set to make waves with ‘AQUA’ concert in Seoul

OWALLOIL’s long-awaited concert, titled AQUA, is set to take place on February 21 and 22, 2026, at YES24 LIVE HALL in Seoul. Officially announced through major Korean ticketing platforms, the two-night event will begin at 6 p.m. on Saturday and 5 p.m. on Sunday, offering audiences a full-scale live experience lasting approximately two hours. Tickets are priced at ₩110,000, with standing access on the first floor and reserved seating on the second floor. Each attendee may purchase up to four tickets per show, and the concert is open to audiences aged seven and above.

Since their formation on August 27, 2019, OWALLOIL has steadily carved out a distinct position within Korea’s indie rock and alternative music scene. The group consists of three members: Ryu Ji Ho (vocals and guitar), Kwak Ji Hyeon (synthesizer), and Jang Tae Wung (guitar). Ji Ho is deeply involved in the group’s creative process, contributing as lyricist, composer, and arranger, while Ji Hyeon builds the foundation of OWALLOIL’s sound through synth bass and rhythmic elements. Tae Wung’s guitar work complements the band’s textured arrangements, resulting in a cohesive and carefully layered sonic identity.

OWALLOIL is widely recognized for blending indie rock with synth-rock influences, striking a balance between organic instrumentation and electronic textures. This combination, paired with a distinctive and emotionally resonant vocal tone, has become central to the group’s musical signature. Their work consistently emphasizes atmosphere and emotional depth, rather than spectacle alone.

According to the organizers, AQUA is conceived as more than a standard concert. The project revolves around the symbolic and emotional associations of water and the color blue, reflecting the group’s artistic evolution over the past seven years. The concept draws a parallel between the members’ creative growth and the process of oxidation (transforming copper into bronze) eventually reaching a tone reminiscent of water. This narrative framework is intended to shape not only the sound but also the stage design and emotional flow of the performance, encouraging a shared sensory experience between the band and the audience.

OWALLOIL’s immersive approach is evident across both their recorded work and live performances. Their 2025 album FRUTO, along with singles such as “Dear Me,” showcases a sound that is both texturally rich and emotionally nuanced. Earlier releases, including Look My Moon and Scentria Forest, as well as their participation in Great Seoul Invasion and various collaborative projects, further highlight the group’s consistent artistic output and gradual rise within the scene.

On stage, OWALLOIL places strong emphasis on live instrumentation, favoring authenticity over studio replication. This commitment has been reflected in performances at label showcases, festivals, and major events such as Beautiful Mint Life 2025 in Seoul, where their indie and synth-rock sound resonated with a broader audience.

With AQUA, OWALLOIL aims to offer both longtime listeners and new audiences an experience rooted in intimacy and emotional connection. Rather than presenting a conventional setlist, the concert is envisioned as a space for reflection and collective energy, positioning live music as a dialogue between artist and audience. As the group continues to evolve both in the studio and on stage, AQUA stands as a defining moment that encapsulates seven years of artistic growth and affirms OWALLOIL’s place within Korea’s vibrant indie rock landscape.
