ONF:MY SELF : Identity in motion, between fragmentation and rebirth
ONF unveiled ONF:MY SELF on June 17, 2026, at 6 PM KST, the second part of their second full-length album that concludes the structure of two parts that have slowly been developing as the key to their recent artistic direction. Already one day after its release, the work appears more like a narrative cycle that is meant to be read across time and less like a one-time comeback event. It lies in the tension between continuity and transformation that can be seen as the reflection of the current artistic identity of the group and its development within the changed context of its artistic practice.
This comeback takes place against the backdrop of the significant institutional change in the context of ONF's artistic activity. This is the first comeback for the group since it signed an exclusive contract with KI Entertainment. At the same time, the comeback is not presented as a reinvention but rather as the continuation of the story begun in ONF:MY IDENTITY, the first part of this overarching structure. ONF:MY SELF acts as the continuation of the concept started in ONF:MY IDENTITY.
The artists, comprising of Hyojin, E Tion, Seungjun, Wyatt, Minkyun, and Yuto, showcased ONF: MY SELF at Cube Convention Center in western Seoul on the day of release. The showcase was attended by press and industry professionals in an elegant press showcase setting in which the members took part in photo opportunities and a performance of the title track of the new album. Open The Door as well as a question and answer session with media representatives. Although the venue was set up in the typical manner of a K-pop press showcase, the album itself framed the show more like a demonstration of a narrative process.
The songs on ONF:MY SELF include the following: Open The Door, Bad Dream, Escape, Mirage, Silver Lining, and Once In a Red Moon. While exploring its architecture, one can notice that all songs in the album can be understood in terms of the development of the album. The album starts with the confrontation and movement phases, goes through instability and self-analysis, and finishes with the resolution and stabilization of emotions.

Another level of symbolism emerges in the promotion for the song in the form of the use of Latin wording: Sine timore. Lux in tenebris lucet. Lux in cordibus fortius lucet. In the context of the release, this phrase is connected with light staying inside darkness and becoming stronger when it enters the heart of man. Thus, it makes a certain addition to the philosophical side of the release that connects the problem of human emotions to the issue of illumination.
Regarding musical peculiarities, it may be noted that ONF: MY SELF is produced using techniques characteristic of K-pop and not limited by any stylistic conventions. In particular, there is the participation of the producer who worked on all previous releases – Hwang Hyun. At the same time, the song includes the contribution of several international producers such as Ronny Svendsen, Adrian Thesen, Anne Judith Wik, JOP, and Eirik Gjendemsjø who have previously worked with high-profile K-pop artists.

On the one hand, it maintains stable artistic identity created as a result of constant collaboration between creators in the long-term perspective. On the other hand, such a system allows increasing the palette of sounds as well as aligning with contemporary tendencies related to international K-pop music production. It should be noted that the identity becomes expanded rather than replaced.
Participation of the band members in the creation process becomes the hallmark of this album. First of all, Minkyun composed some songs, including Open The Door and Escape. Moreover, Wyatt participated in writing lyrics for several songs. Such a situation confirms that musical identity may be created as a result of group efforts rather than only external production process. In other words, their contribution was added to the structural composition of the album.
